Microverse Biomedical Animation Named an Official Selection at SIGGRAPH 2023 Electronic Theater
We are thrilled to announce that our very own Molly Huttner and Cameron Slayden, biomedical animators at Microverse Studios, have been accepted into the prestigious Electronic Theater at SIGGRAPH 2023.
This ground-breaking animation, "Changing the Way We Look At Cells," was recognized for its innovative and engaging presentation. Out of hundreds of submissions from around the world, only 22 animations were granted the coveted Official Selection honor this year—placing Microverse Studios on the exact same marquee as blockbuster industry giants like Disney, Blizzard Entertainment, and Wētā FX.
The inclusion of "Changing the Way We Look At Cells" at SIGGRAPH 2023—notably its milestone 50th annual conference—is a remarkable achievement. This elite platform represents the absolute pinnacle of artistic and technical achievement in computer graphics. By entering the Electronic Theater, Molly and Cameron's work joins the ranks of history's most iconic digital artworks.
Commissioned by our esteemed client CytoTronics, a biotechnology firm leading the charge in cell biology and molecular science, the animation transforms incredibly complex scientific data into a visually stunning, accessible format. The project perfectly reflects CytoTronics' commitment to pushing cellular boundaries and Microverse Studios' mission to seamlessly blend art and deep science.
Historically, SIGGRAPH’s Electronic Theater serves as a premier annual showcase, highlighting a diverse range of works from blockbuster visual effects to scientific visualizations. It is a notoriously rigorous judging process, making this selection a massive victory for the field of biomedical animation.
